Fall Is Officially Here!

The first day of fall was last week and the evening temperatures sure make it feel like fall is here and summer is no more. I love fall. The colors of nature are warm and inviting. The recipes we tend to make are comforting and full of flavor. Who doesn’t like a pumpkin spice something? That flavor can be found in hot beverages, donuts, cookies. What’s your favorite?

All About Texture

As we will be spending more time inside, it’s a great time to add some texture.  Maybe it’s new pillows or a throw.  If you enjoy creating something original, check out the list of classes at the yarn shop in downtown Marion, Stitch and Skein.  The owner, Candice, has classes scheduled in knitting, crochet, sewing for kids and adults.  The colors and textures of her yarns are enticing!  Check out her website using the link below or look her up on Facebook. Stop in and see all she has to offer. Show her you received this newsletter and she will take 10% off your purchase. I love supporting local business!
Another way to add texture is with Natural Shades. They are unique by nature and beautiful by design. The refined, handwoven fabrics give a warm, richly textured finish to your space. We just installed them in a new build. On the west and south facing windows we added the moveable liner option. The light coming through the fabric highlights the weave and adds an earthy element to every aesthetic.

October is National Window Covering Safety Month. Cordless shades are recommended for child safety.  Graber is offering the free cordless option on Pleated, Natural, Roller, Solar and Fresco Roman and Fabric Shades until the end of the year. Call me to set up a time to show you some.

We’ve been busy selling window treatments. My clients love beautiful fabrics with warm colors, patterns and texture! Here are some of our recent projects!

Cozy Scents for Fall

Don’t you love the fall scents? Pumpkin, apple, cinnamon… Are you rushing out to buy your favorite fall candle as soon as the outside temps drop?  Here’s a way to fragrance your home naturally without harsh chemicals and toxins.

It's Pumpkin Time

Did you know that a natural dent in a pumpkin or a missing stem indicates they will be the first to rot? You want to avoid those when shopping for the perfect pumpkin!

Wash your pumpkin with a mixture of 1 tsp bleach per gallon of water. This kills fungus and other bacteria on the outside that can lead to pre-mature rotting. Let dry. Wipe the entire pumpkin down with mineral oil. It gives the pumpkin a nice shine and protects it. It’s safe for outdoor critters should they decide to feast on it!
