Happy 4th of July!

Here is hoping the month of July feels more like summer than the month of June has. We have a pool and I have been in it once! I don’t ever recall going the entire month of June without swimming.  The rain we finally got and the cool nights have been good for the flowers. Here are some shots of what is finally blooming in my yard.

A Fun DIY

I saw a post about this online and decided to try it. After the allium blooms, you are left with the seed head to dry. It’s greenish-brown but has a great texture. I didn’t have much color in this area of my garden, so I spray-painted them! How fun is this? Now I’ll have color in that area all summer!

New Builds and New Projects

I’ve been very fortunate to work with some clients in several of their homes over a long period of time. Such is the case for a current project. A new construction project requires MANY decisions.  It can be overwhelming to say the least. I’ve had the pleasure of working with this couple for 27 years.  He commented that I should know what they like after all that time! As always, I search through many samples to come up with 2 or 3 selections for the client to decide upon. This saves the client from going through numerous fabrics and wall coverings. This new master bedroom and bath will have a wall covering in the bath with matching fabric at the bedroom windows. The bedroom will feature SW6436, Bonsai Tint paint, and a neutral carpet.  New furniture will be painted off-white with stained cherry tops. The bathroom vanity will be painted off-white. The marble-looking tile floors will be heated. Mosaic tile will be installed in a vertical stripe at each end of the large shower. Shower walls will be easy care cultured marble. The end result will be striking and beautiful. It will feel very fresh!

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

A Quick and Easy Fruit Tray

Here is an easy idea for an impromptu holiday gathering. Arrange sliced strawberries or watermelon in “stripes” on a white planter or tray. Alternate fruit with white chocolate or yogurt-covered pretzels. Add a small bowl of fresh blueberries in the upper left corner. Guests, young and old, will be delighted and you will not spend a lot of time in the kitchen!

If you happen to be having a 4th of July gathering, I came across this playlist of patriotic music. Enjoy!

Until next time - Happy Summer!
